Abstract

This report presents the results of ORCA's Estuarine Eutrophication Survey for 37 estuaries in the Gulf of Mexico region. The goal of this survey was to assess the scale and scope of nutrient enrichment and eutrophication in the NEI estuaries. An additional purpose was to provide an information base for formulating a national response which may include future research and monitoring. Information collected included algal conditions, ecosystem/community responses, physical and hydrologic characteristics, nutrients, and dissolved oxygen.
