1995 Wasteload estimates and forecasts for the Clear Lake watershed

Abstract

The Texas Natural Resource Conservation Commission (TNRCC) regulates wastewater discharge through the use of permits. Biochemical oxygen demand (BOD), total suspended solids (TSS), and ammonia nitrogen (NH3-N) are the three major constituents regulated. The Houston-Galveston Area Council (HGAC) and the TNRCC have combined efforts to regulate the Clear Lake watershed. By using domestic waste load estimates and projections, water quality management should be improved.
