Hybridization among members of the genus Morone (Pisces: Percichthyidae) in Galveston Bay, Texas

Abstract

This article presents a detailed report on the natural occurrence of a Morone saxatilis X M. mississippiensis hybrid. Additionally, the natural occurrence of a product of a hybrid crossing (M. chrysops X M. saxatilis) with a member of a third species, M. mississippiensis, is reported. The use of isoelectric focusing (IEF) as a means of documenting these natural occurrences is described as well.
