Abstract

This report outlines the biological design goals for the created marsh at Bolivar Peninsula and the bird nesting island. The planning and methods used to develop these bioengineering goals are also described in detail. For the Bolivar marsh site, the term bioengineering refers to the design recommendations specifically developed to encourage the formation of productive low marsh habitat. For Bird Island, the term bioengineering refers to the characteristics of a site which attract a targeted nesting guild. As a background, the Demonstration Marsh created by the Beneficial Uses Group (BUG) is discussed.
