Abstract
This report addresses the effects of constructing and operating a Battleship Surface Action Group Homeport at several northeast locations. Homeporting the Surface Action Group on Staten Island, New York had been identified as a preferred alternative, by a Navy study team, on the basis of operational factors. Alternatives evaluated in this report include Staten Island, Boston Army Base, Quonset Point/Davisville-Rhode Island and Davisville-Rhode Island. The analyses contained herein focus on environmental, social and economic consequences of establishing a Homeport at the alternative locations.
