Abstract
Essential obejctives of the investigation of San Antonio and Matagorda Bays were to test and critically evaluate existing limnological methods as applicable to estuarine ecosystems. Tests which were conducted were directed to application of evaluation the overall productivity of the systems. The criteria and critiques of methodology set forth from this investigation may therefore be employed by investigators in the future, hopefully providing information which will save time in both the laboratory and the field. Additionally, these results may be applied to any other estuarine ecosystem research effort. It is further anticipated that at least part of the data resulting from this investigation may be used in conjunction with the overall State effort to effectively manage these resources.
