Abstract
The Oil Spill Control Course was developed to provide the layman with a basic knowledge of the effects of spilled oil on the environment, and with knowledge of the types of equipment and strategies used for cleanup of spilled oil. In order to understand the magnitude of the oil spill problem, some past spill statistics can be reviewed (Tables 1 & 2). Spills can be categorized by their frequency, location, cause, or by types of oil spilled.
