Abstract

R. cuneata from Trinity Bay was found to be euryhaline, surviving salinities from 4 o/oo to 27 o/oo inclusive for three months. The distribution of R. cuneata was found in Galveston and Trinity Bay to be limited to salinities below the 10 o/oo year-round isohaline. Substrate was found to be a minor factor in R. cuneata distribution. Thais haemastoma is considered here to be a major limiting factor in the distribution of R. cuneata. In this study Callinectes sapidus and Polynices sp. were not found to be major limiting factors in determining the distribution of R. cuneata.
