Environment Online: The Greening of Databases

Abstract

The Online Inc. office was overwhelmed with requests for the August and October 1991 issues of DATABASE, containing Parts 1 and 2 of the series. It therefore seemed logical to reprint the entire series, anticipating the additional requests that would be generated when Part 3 appeared. The authors kindly agreed to white a section of "Additions and Changes" that have occurred since the publication of the first two articles. We then added the text of six columns that have appeared in DATABASE and ONLINE that were cited in the three articles - sort of an automatic hypertext linking to sources. We hope you will find this compilation of value, as you strive to deal with the increasing onslaught of environmental information.
