Abstract
Dye tracer tests were conducted in Galveston Channel, Galveston, Texas during the period 4-16 May 1962. The purpose was to determine the time required to remove or reduce to relatively low concentrations a contaminant from the channel and subsequently from the Galveston Bay complex. The tests consisted of releasing a quantity of Rhodamine-B dye into the water and monitoring its dilution and dispersion by continuous fluorometric analysis and by aerial photographs of the dye patch. Results of the tests are discussed, and a set of empirical dilution factors have been computed.
