Abstract

A brief description of the purposes and functions of the Texas A&M University Systematic Collection of Marine Organisms is given including a listing of sources and localities from which some of the larger and more noteworthy contributions were obtained. Following this is a phylogenetic and alphabetical listing of catalogued species of invertebrate organisms from the collection, including common names when possible. A total of 1,726 species are listed from the following nine invertebrate phyla: Coelenterata, Annelida, Mollusca, Arthropoda, Sipuncula, Ectoprocta, Brachiopoda, Echninodermata, and Chordata. A bibliography of publications and of theses and dissertations based upon invertebrate specimens in the collection is presented. An extensive alphabetical listing of scientific and common names is given in the index for convenient reference.
