Abstract
The paper describes shrimp resource research presently being conducted by the Galveston Laboratory of the National Marine Fisheries Service Gulf Coastal Fisheries Center. Discussed are plans for development of a mathematical model capable of explaining and prediction changes in shrimp catch, and on-going mark-recapture experiments, predictions of catch, stock indentification studies, and study of spawning grounds. Trends in Texas and Louisiana brown and white shrimp catch rates are presented.
